The music comes first. The titles come later. I rarely begin with a name for a piece. Instead, I wait until the music has revealed its own character before searching for words that seem to belong to it. The notes below are not explanations of the music, but glimpses into the ideas and experiences that eventually gave each work its title.
The Idle Hours
“The Idle Hours” explores the spaces between events, where time slows but attention cannot. Inspired by a cinematic monologue about the discipline of waiting, the music reflects the quiet resolve required to remain prepared, even when the next moment cannot be predicted. It is a meditation on patience, awareness, and the value of stillness.
Last Man Home
“Last Man Home” is inspired by a phrase from professional cycling that recognizes perseverance over position. Beneath its title is a simple idea: there is dignity in completing a difficult journey, even when the spotlight has moved elsewhere. The music reflects that quiet resolve, finding meaning not in victory over others, but in the determination to reach the end.
Whistling in the Dark
“Whistling in the Dark” considers the moments when courage is less a matter of certainty than of deliberate resolve. Drawing on the familiar expression, the music explores how humor, optimism, and quiet determination can steady us through uncertainty. Rather than ignoring adversity, it suggests that resilience often begins by choosing how we respond to it.
Restless Visions
“Restless Visions” emerged from a period when ordinary routines had been interrupted and solitude became unavoidable. Composed during and immediately after the COVID-19 pandemic, the EP represents a return to writing and recording, shaped by both the uncertainty of the moment and the creative possibilities it unexpectedly revealed. It stands as a record of resilience, reflection, and renewal.
